Dermal Fillers

It may seem daunting to choose the right injectable filler options with an extensive range of fillers on the menu today. However, the wide array of dermal filler options available is great news for new patients hoping to regain their youthful appearance.

Your facial injection provider shall discuss the density, intended depth and texture of different filler options while recommending one that will work best for you. Board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Matthias Solomon provides dermal filler injections to patients in Dallas, Frisco, Sherman, Texas, and surrounding locations.

Hyaluronic Acid Dermal Fillers

Most popular dermal fillers contain hyaluronic acid (HA). According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeon (ASPS) HA dermal fillers are the most sought-after procedures and many experts recommend it because the substance is naturally compatible with the human body.

HA is found naturally in the skin cells and is responsible for transferring essential nutrients in the bloodstream to the skin. HA helps in restoring elasticity and volume while plumping and hydrating the skin.

Dermal fillers containing HA are generally soft and gel-like in texture. The results of these injectables are temporary because the substance is biocompatible and gets absorbed within the tissue. However, most patients experience results lasting 6 – 12 months.

Types of FDA-Approved HA Dermal Fillers

These fillers are approved by the FDA:

  • Restylane
  • Restylane Silk
  • Juvederm
  • Voluma
  • Radiesse
  • Belotero

Radiesse – Calcium Hydroxylapatite Dermal Filler

According to the ASPS, calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHa) is among the densest dermal fillers. CaHa is similar to HA and occurs naturally in the body. However, unlike HA, CaHa is a mineral like substance and is found primarily in the human bones.

Radiesse comprises of small particles of CaHa suspended in a smooth gel. The texture of this dermal filler is thicker than the ones containing HA. This allows Radiesse to offer more sustainable results. CaHa gets naturally absorbed by the body too. However, most patients will notice a marked difference in their fine lines and wrinkle after Radiesse treatment. The results last longer too, for up to 12 – 18 months.

Radiesse is among the most popular CaHa fillers to be FDA-approved and can be used on nasolabial folds and frown lines. It can also be used to sculpt the nose, chin, cheeks, or jawline.

Juvederm Voluma – Anti Aging Filler

Some people tend to lose more volume from their cheek or mid-face area as a result of aging. This can cause their cheeks to appear sunken with loose or thinning skin. Juvederm Voluma filler is designed specifically to restore volume in the cheeks. This FDA-approved anti-aging dermal filler can create a rounder, fuller, and youthful looking facial appearance.

Vycross technology is used to create the smooth and consistent Juvederm Voluma filler. The silky consistency of the gel offers smoother facial appearance. Juvederm Voluma offers long-lasting results with higher concentrations of HA. The results stay up to 24 months in most patients with this treatment.
