During a neck lift procedure, IV sedation or general anesthesia is used. The incision point is placed just in front or behind the ears, while another one might also be created beneath the chin. If isolated areas of fat exist, neck liposuction would be the first step in the surgical process. Next, the platysma muscle in the neck is sutured together in the midline to produce a firm neck contour. Any sagging, loose, or hanging skin will be carefully excised, and the underlying tissue and remaining skin will be pulled tight. As in the deep plane facelift, tension is placed on the underlying muscle thereby avoiding the pulled appearance. Even though sutures are placed at the incision area, scars will not be noticeable since they were placed beneath the chin. Other cosmetic treatments that can help the skin’s texture and surface include PRP therapy, BOTOX®, fat injections, and dermal fillers to produce a younger-looking and glowing appearance.
